Welcome to the CALLING Project

The CALLING project has been created as a new and fresh voice that will inspire students and help them develop their dreams, talents, attitudes, aspirations and career goals through an orientation process aimed at self-training and full self-realisation.

Orientation is a process that is associated with the growth of a person as a whole, that is their identity, their relationship with their self, with work, with other people and with their own aspirations and wishes. Orienting an individual means enabling them to acquire self-orientation skills aimed at improving their self-perception and as a result their capacity to develop and make choices and decisions that are consistent with their interests and aspirations.

Covid-19 Global Pandemic

The Calling Partnership is currently working within the travel restrictions and a range of measures taken by our partner countries to prevent the spread of Covid-19. We are all experiencing big changes to how and where we work; we need to look after ourselves and support our colleagues – we are all in this together. Whilst these restrictions have prevented us from meeting face-to-face in 2021, we have been able to utilise online tools such as video-conferencing to ensure that the Calling project does not experience any delays. We are hopeful that we will be able to meet face-to-face in the near future; until then we will continue to progress the Calling project workplan and meet regularly using online resources. The CALLING project

An innovative approach in school careers guidance and vocational orientation directly aligns to the orientation process outlined in the foregoing. The aim is to support and guide teachers towards a paradigm shift:

The student is a “complex system” that goes beyond the academic aspects and needs to be considered in a new light, one that supports the realisation of the student’s dreams and aspirations.

The teachers, starting from the individual student’s aspirations, attitudes and interests are tasked with helping each student to build their own life project, in terms of

  • Self-evaluation
  • Self-orientation and
  • Full self-realisation

The 3 main priorities of the programme

  • SE: Strengthening the profiles of the teaching professions
  • H: Supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences
  • H: Social inclusion.

Within this context, the CALLING project intends to transfer to teachers, (the primary target group of the project), a new and innovative method of orientation and mapping of skills, providing them with a suite of tools they can use when working with students in a careers guidance/vocational orientation setting. This includes a training module that will support teachers to understand the CALLING methodology and use the model with students, and the CALLING Charter and framework, which can be used in the classroom and which will both facilitate them in the construction of an orientation path and mapping and also lessen the risk factors that results in some children/young people being more susceptible to taking an academic or vocational pathway that does not suit them including risk of drop-out. Accordingly, children/young people in post-primary education are therefore considered the final beneficiaries of the CALLING project.
